I’m not sure what’s better at Deerfield: the golf course or the food. But both are very, very good and I’m having a great time trying to reach a decision!
At least the food doesn’t get into my head. The first time I played here, I breezed around and shot a nice solid round. No problem, I thought. Elevatation changes, small greens, a course that makes you think your way around — it all made for a very entertaining and pleasant day. But with each return trip, I seem to find new ways to find trouble. There is much more lurking out there than its 6,300 yards would suggest.
Despite my recent frustrations, it is always a great day on the golf course … and taking on the challenge of solving the Deerfield puzzle can be quite addicting. At least there’s still the Pub and Grille to soothe my wounded ego at round’s end (although I don’t have the guts to take on the Doomsday Burger — what about you? ). You should also make it a point to stop by Deerfield to enjoy dinner on the patio, whether or not you have time for golf that day.
